Carina de C Álvarez
Adriana Carina Camacho Álvarez is a Portuguese (-Spanish) translator, graduated from Universidad de la República (Udelar), Montevideo, Uruguay, holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Translation (Portuguese-Spanish) from UFRGS as well as a teaching credential in Portuguese and Spanish Language Arts from Centro Universitário UniFAEL (Brazil). She has a Specialization Course in Translation from Spanish (2010) from Universidade Gama Filho, a Master’s (2003) and a Doctorate (2009) in Brazilian Literature from the Institute of Letters of UFRGS. Since 2011, she manages her own translation company (Lecttura Traduções: lecttura.com.br), offering linguistic services in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
Adriana Carina is the author of articles and translations published in specialized journals and books. As a translator (from Portuguese, Spanish, English and French to Portuguese and Spanish), she is specialized in the fields of psychology and psychoanalysis, history, social sciences, language, philosophy, literature and alternative medicine. To better her knowledge of psychoanalysis, she took courses is renowned institutions in the area. In this field, she works as a translator, mainly for Centro de Estudos de Psicanálise de Porto Alegre (CEPdePA), Associação Psicanalítica de Porto Alegre (APPOA) and Sociedade Psicanalítica de Porto Alegre (SPPA).
She also has vast experience in audiovisual translation (subtitling and translation for dubbing), collaborating with Bravo Studios and HBO Latin America, among other clients.
As a reviewer and translator, she has collaborated, since 2012, with the journal História da Historiografia from Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP) (https://www.historiadahistoriografia.com.br/revista) and Revista Brasileira de Estudos da Presença, from UFRGS (https://www.seer.ufrgs.br/presenca), among other publications.
She has also worked as a Spanish teacher in Faculdade Porto-Alegrense (FAPA), Brazil, and in NELE, UFRG’S university extension course, and as a Spanish and translation guest lecturer in other higher education institutions such as Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) and Universidade de Passo Fundo (UPF), both in Brazil.
